We were delighted to see Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent back on our TV screens on the latest episode of “Home Town Kickstart.” The interior design duo and married dads are one of six teams of HGTV stars using their talents to revitalize small towns across America. Berkus and Brent are New York City dwellers, so it made perfect sense for them to focus their efforts on three different makeover projects in Cornwall, NY, a quaint Hudson Valley town just 50 miles north of the city.

The other bit of “Nate and Jer” news that had us jumping for joy was the recent announcement that their popular HGTV design docu-series “The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project” was picked up for a second season.

Their interior design work is world-famous, and their Instagram presence is legendary. (They have 2 million followers between the two of them!) But when they’re not renovating homes on national TV or appearing on the pages of glossy shelter magazines, what are Berkus and Brent really like? We’re here to take you through eight facts that make us love this posh pair even more.

1. They were married at a New York City landmark

After getting engaged in Peru in 2013, Berkus and Brent tied the knot at the main branch of the New York Public Library in the heart of Manhattan. Fun fact: These two stars were the first gay couple to wed in the iconic space.

2. They hang with A-listers

Palling around with celebrities is NBD for Berkus and Brent. Most people remember that Berkus’ popularity and design career were boosted in a major way after he became a regular contributor on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Brent had a stint working for celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and even appeared on her TV show, “The Rachel Zoe Project,” where he decorated her Beverly Hills mansion.

Since then, Berkus and Brent have become celebrities in their own right and hobnob with A-listers on the regular.

3. They love being parents

On “The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project” and “Nate and Jeremiah: Save My House,” Berkus and Brent have given viewers an inside peek at their family life with their two children: Poppy, 7, and Oskar, 4. Both kiddos were born via surrogacy, which they describe as “a very beautiful experience.”

These devoted dads might appear to have a glamorous existence, but they’re also dedicated to the everyday fun of family life, which includes visiting the Central Park Zoo, baking chocolate chip cookies at home, and dying Easter eggs.

4. They’re very crafty

Their creative design skills come into play on job sites and at home! These two can put together a cute costume out of bubble wrap (like the one seen above) in seconds flat. Using what they have around the house to craft something sweet is a smart and eco-friendly move.

5. They have a gorgeous furniture line

Brent’s popular line includes hand soap, dish soap, incense, candles, and more, all made from 100% natural fragrances and without single-use plastics. This eco-friendly collection is the perfect go-to for gifts for friends or to treat yourself to some self-care at home.

8. Berkus and Brent have a beach retreat

When Berkus and Brent aren’t in residence at their townhouse in New York City’s West Village, they enjoy a coastal escape to the Hamptons. They own a home in Montauk at the very eastern tip of Long Island. The house, built in the 1980s, sits on a nature reserve and was previously owned and renovated by photographer Raphael Mazzucco.

Of course, Berkus and Brent put their own design touches on the place and gave it a “face-lift” after they bought it in 2020.

It’s a special home for the family of four as they were able to hunker down there during the COVID-19 pandemic.
