Michael Vartan, star of “Alias,” wants to recruit a new owner for his Los Angeles home. It’s available for $3.1 million.
The actor purchased the midcentury modern abode—as a first-time home buyer—in 2003 for $1.6 million.
At the time of the purchase, the single-level home, which was originally built in 1959, had been renovated, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times, including updates to the kitchen and the four bathrooms. But it has retained elements of the original layout, such as glass walls, indoor-outdoor flow, and hardwood flooring that runs throughout the home.
The Hollywood Hills address on a coveted road offers privacy and serenity. Set behind thick hedges, the home is hidden from the street.

The entrance, through red double doors, opens to a foyer with built-in shelves. That area leads into a living room with a fireplace surrounded by a built-in bench and firewood storage. Walls of glass doors access the pool.
The formal dining room opens to an extra-large patio for dining outside. An updated chef’s kitchen features a navy blue mosaic tile backsplash, white cabinets, and adjoins a casual eating area surrounded by windows.
The four bedrooms include a master suite with a sitting area, an en suite bathroom, walk-in closet, a window seat, and glass doors that open outside. The bathroom boasts a soaking tub with a TV, separate glassed-in shower, and dual vanities.
The layout also comes with a billiard-room with a built-in bar done up in a shade of fire-engine red, perfect for entertaining guests. Other perks include an office and a laundry room.
Guests can be stashed in semidetached quarters with a bedroom and bathroom, which could also be used as a music or art studio, or a separate home office.
The quarter-acre grounds also include a pool, sundeck, lawn, and a covered patio with space for lounging and dining.
Controlled gate access opens up to a circular driveway and parking for two cars, as well as a two-car garage. The location is convenient to the bustle on Sunset Boulevard, while offering a retreat that is removed and private. The listing notes that the property is “a rare find at this price point on this street.”
The French-born actor is known for playing the agent Michael Vaughn on the hit ABC spy thriller “Alias,” which co-starred Jennifer Garner and ran from 2001 through 2006. (The two dated for a time in real life.)
Vartan, 52, has also had roles in such movies as “Never Been Kissed,” ”One Hour Photo,” and “Monster-in-Law.” Currently, the hockey fan co-hosts a sports show on YouTube, “Advanced Shouting,” with his friends Dan Petriw and Noel Fogelman.
Lauren Vartan with ACME Real Estate holds the listing. The listing agent is also Vartan’s ex-wife. The two split in 2014.
