Ellie & John’s Story
What convinced you to move to Breckenridge, CO?
We had been looking for a vacation house for some time, but we finally decided on Breckenridge when we visited the community. We enjoyed the hometown feeling and loved being just a few steps from both ski slopes and city conveniences. The community was close-knit and we kept asking ourselves what it would be like to live in such a peaceful place. That’s when it clicked and we decided to make the purchase.
What type of real estate did you end up buying?
We ended up buying a cozy condo just a few minutes from the Breckenridge Ski Resort. Our main reasons revolved around the convenience to other amenities, the service the condominium provided, and how it fit to our lifestyle. We don’t need to take care of a big house or keep up with the maintenance. It’s a simple abode that gives us the luxury of the community.
How did you find the right property that suited all your needs?
We started out by outlining our budget. After figuring out the appropriate price point for us, we began looking in that range. We stayed within our affordability level, but also signed up for e-Alerts to get immediate updates on new houses for sale. After searching through dozens on dozens of properties, we decided to make a list of things we wanted and needed in a home. With that, we took it to our agent with the Smits Team and he helped us narrow down the choices.
Were there any hurdles you had to overcome?
The main hurdle for us was compromising on what we wanted and what we could afford. That’s why having a list of needs and wants really helped us. But don’t get me wrong. We still found a fabulous property for an affordable price. For us, the main amenities we looked for was convenience to skiing and dining. Once we narrowed down our choices, finding the right home became easy.
What advice would you like to share with buyers reading your story?
If there’s anything you take away from our tale, it should be this: Trust your agent. If you pick a qualified real estate agent who knows their stuff, then you’ll be in good hands. It’s the reason we chose the Smits Team. They lived and breathed Breckenridge real estate, so we trusted them with finding the right property for us. And they didn’t waste our time either. They got to work and provided insights we would have never known. Without them, we wouldn’t be vacationing happily in Breckenridge right now.
