Disgraced former NBC “Today” host Matt Lauer has finally sold his Hamptons home, according to the New York Post.
The estate was last on the market in 2021 for $43,995,000. The final sale price has yet to be made public.
Lauer, who was fired from his job at NBC after accusations of sexual misconduct came to light, bought the property in 2016 for a reported $36.5 million from actor Richard Gere. Although Lauer paid a sky-high amount, Gere had initially sought $65 million for the Sag Harbor, NY, spread.
After his split from wife Annette Roque, Lauer listed the luxe property in June 2019 for $44.8 million. The waterfront residence was relisted in fall 2019 for $43.99 million.
The impressive 6.3-acre property features views of Peconic Bay and the Mashomack Preserve, 300 feet of bay frontage, a 240-foot-long deep-water dock, a sandy beach, a pond with a bridge, an island-inspired teahouse, and two guest cottages.
With a total of 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, the compound includes a 6,552-square-foot main house. Built in 1902, the home known as Strongheart Manor has been fully renovated and restored.
The floor plan includes six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a screened-in porch that runs the length of the house.
Other interior highlights include a number of entertaining areas, formal living and dining rooms, and multiple fireplaces. An eat-in kitchen has a built-in banquette and opens to an adjacent family room with a fireplace. Upstairs, the primary suite opens onto a balcony, and the bathroom features a tub and dual vanities.
The sprawling grounds boast a 60-foot heated waterfront pool, rolling lawns and flowering gardens, specimen trees, a fireplace pavilion, a gym, and a basketball court.
Lauer is likely sticking around the Hamptons. He still owns a nearby property he picked up in 2004.
That 25-acre country estate, also in Sag Harbor, had once been listed for as much as $18 million. It was last listed in 2019 for $12.75 million. It’s now off the market.
The spacious spread includes an 8,000-square-foot, six-bedroom main house. The verdant grounds feature walking paths among gardens, terraces, and patios. There’s also a tennis court, heated pool, pool house, and wet bar.
