Hawaii’s natural beauty is the state’s most alluring quality. The island chain in the middle of the Pacific Ocean offers an intoxicating blend of lush greenery, crashing waves, mountains, waterfalls, and volcanoes.
On the market for $239,000, the treehouse on the Big Island was constructed by Roderick Wolgamott, who’s built treehouses for the likes of Sting, Donna Karan, and Val Kilmer.
In the video below, Wolgamott gives insight on his building process, and the Hawaii treehouse is mentioned.
He says this is one of the few treehouses he’s built with proper plumbing. So a buyer can live among the trees and still enjoy a bit of modern convenience.
Wolgamott says there’s something spiritual about being in a house among the birds, and this particular treehouse is constructed out of recycled lumber from a church in Oahu, which levels up the whole spiritual vibe.
Measuring a petite 360 square feet, the elevated home has one bedroom and one bathroom, as well as a small kitchen and a living space.
Decks are in abundance to soak in the surrounding greenery. There’s an outdoor shower and a hot tub big enough for two on the main deck.
Stained-glass accents were provided by local artist Seneca La Londe. If you’re unsure how to furnish a treehouse, not to worry. This one comes fully furnished and ready to go.
But caveat emptor: The treehouse is completely off the grid, so it’s powered by a generator.
This is about as far as you can get from a tract home, so the county (and mortgage lenders) aren’t quite sure what to make of it. This means you’ll need $239,000 to purchase this natural beauty. It’s a small price to pay for a totally cool treehouse!
