Summer Events Preview of Summit County, CO

    Whether you live in Summit County, CO or you are visiting the area you probably want to take advantage of the exceptional outdoor area Summit County has to offer you. There are several different events taking place during the summer months, which give you all sorts of variations towards activities you want to enjoy.

    These activities you are able to perform either on your own or with a group of people. That is one of the great features of Summit County. It doesn’t really matter who you know or what you intend to do, there is something going on for singles or groups of people.

    “Shakin’ at the Basin” Concert Series
    Starting May 18

    If you are looking to enjoy some music and want a different act every weekend? If so, you need to check out the Shaking at the Basin Concert Series. There is a different band taking the stage at 1 p.m. and best of all it is free and free transport at the Summit Stage Bust Station.


    This way, even if you don’t have any form of transportation available to you it is possible to head out and catch a new band you possibly haven’t heard of before. You never know, you might just discover a new favorite band.

    Basin Festival of the Brewpubs
    Sunday, May 26

    If you love beer than the Basin Festival of the Brewpubs is perfect for you. This is a chance for you to come out for the Memorial Weekend Beach Party events and sample thee beer from the different brewpubs in the area.

    Even if you have already been to the different brewpubs you probably are going to get the chance to sample some beers you just haven’t had before.

    36th Annual Run the Rockies
    Saturday, June 8

    If you love to run and the great outdoors, the 36th Annual Run the Rockies is the perfect event for you. Here you are able to take on the 10 Mile Creek 10K or the Half Marathon. Best of all, even if you don’t think your endurance is up to this level yet the majority of these areas of the run are downhill.

    The half marathon is 75 percent downhill and the Ten Mile Creek 10K is 100 percent downhill. Both of the starts begin across form Copper Mountain, so make sure to sign up early. This is a great way to build confidence in your running (thanks to the downhill) and to have an excellent time working out on the outside.

    Colorado Barbecue Challenge
    June 13-15

    Do you love barbecue? Do you have an incredible recipe you want to share and compete with? If so, the Colorado Barbecue Challenge is perfect for you. There are over 60 teams from across the country competing in the event. Even if you don’t have a recipe you want to test out you can still enjoy some of the very best BBQ the country has to offer. You might have a hard time sampling all of the different options available to you.
