One of the best (and easiest) ways to set the mood in your living room is with a refresh on the lighting. Something bold that makes the chaos of your space seem intentional, like this industrial light fixture featured in a repost from @homeaura, originally posted by @industrieelchique.
“Industrial is very popular because in many cases it’s a nod to our past,” says Laura Suglia-Isgro, interior designer and owner of KAS Interiors. “Many people are soothed by things they remember as a child, and these fixtures are more like art pieces, offering a creative way to handle lighting.”
“These are the cool kids of the design world, like your favorite blue jeans that add instant cool factor without sacrificing comfort,” adds Melinda Trembly, owner and creative director of Rincon Road Design Studio. “It seems like everyone wants to get their hands on them—so there are options at every price point.”
Get the look: You can shop a variety of industrial pendants online at stores such as Lamps Plus, or even scope out your nearest thrift store to score the perfect piece.
Your favorite blanket on display
We all have a favorite blanket. (Well, most of us do.) Rather than throwing it on the back of the couch to collect pet hair, why not put it on display for everyone (and not just the cat) to enjoy? That seems to be exactly what’s going on in this repost by @hunkerhome from @lavender_julep.
“Blanket displays are nothing new, but it does seem they’ve gained in popularity over the last few years, and there’s a reason why,” Trembly says. “They make storage a piece of art. Displaying your favorite throws and blankets instantly adds texture and interest while not taking up too much space—and who doesn’t love that?”
Get the look: Add a blanket display to your little corner of the world by shopping the blanket ladder designs on Etsy.
Extra large candle lanterns
Candle lanterns are the ultimate cozy upgrade for just about any space, but these extra large ones featured in @monikapedersenartist’s living room, as reposted by @hippie.tribe, are taking the toasty vibes to a new level.
“If you want instant warmth and glow to a space, lanterns are the perfect answer,” Trembly says. “It’s a great way to bring the outdoors in and keep the summer vibes going all winter long—and they also add some drama to the space.”
“The use of larger or overly large candles and lanterns creates a calming, sometimes romantic atmosphere that’s difficult to achieve with other light sources,” adds Neil Partridge of NGI Design. “The candlelight promotes an intimacy that a bulb or the sun just can’t.”
Woven fibers everywhere

SCROLL STOPPER Every time I see a post from @miss_rusticarrow it stops me in my tracks. Her home is perfection and SOOO inspiring!! Go give her a follow if you haven’t already! // . . #bidathome #sodomino #bohoinspiration #bohoinspired #bohointeriors #modernboho #mybohoabode #bhghome #hgtv #betterhomesandgardens #succulover #interiorstyling #interior2you #interior4inspo #interiordesigninspiration #boholiving #bohofarmhouse #bohemianhome #bohemiandecor #bohemianstyle #mybohohome #bohoinspo #bohodecor
“This a great look that is all over the design community right now,” Suglia-Isgro says. “Woven grasses are used in everything from pillows, rugs, wall coverings, to light fixtures. The woven look is a great way to add texture and warmth to a space, and if enough is used, it may even improve acoustics and tame any possible echoing.”
Greige, top to bottom

I’m loving the neutral tones of this living room and how they are accentuated with pretty pops of bright green! Not to mention that GORGEOUS lantern!! I want to steal it!! A little greige can go a long way, but a lot of greige? Well you might as well start charging admission for the spa vibes of your living room.
“If you’re looking to add some calm and flexibility to your space, griege top to bottom is the way to go,” Trembly says.
Beyond that, it’s also a color scheme that works well in just about any space.
“Greige has taken the interior design space by storm,” says Partridge. “There are so many people enjoying the color in their homes because it can be paired with just about anything, and acts as a canvas for other design elements.”
Get the look: To get the Zen vibes of a fully greige room, consider repainting the walls with a color like Anew Gray from Sherwin-Williams, and then add a few extra touches like this ultrasoft throw from Brooklinen, or some textured pillows from Target.
